Termination of Probation

After a defendant has served jail time or paid fines, the case is not closed until probation is complete; usually a minimum of three years.

To complete all terms of probation the court will need to see that you have attending treatment programs and paid off fines or restitution. A court may grant an early termination of probation to defendants that have completed all of the terms of probation and have also served at least half of the probation sentence. Early termination will not be granted to defendants that have violated probation.

Being on probation limits activities such as leaving the country, having immigration papers processed, or obtaining a license for a professional job.
